Kamani stated that the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Japan, China, and South Africa ranked as the top five importers of Iranian handwoven carpets during this period.
She added that the production of 2.43 million square meters of carpets across the country reflects the sustained efforts of manufacturers and artisans in the sector.
International Exhibition to Boost Industry
Kamani also announced the upcoming 32nd International Handwoven Carpet Exhibition, to be held at the permanent exhibition grounds in Tehran.
The event is being organized with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, which is offering a 50 percent discount on booth fees for carpet producers to strengthen production and export opportunities for what she described as a strategic commodity.
She emphasized that handwoven carpets represent a key advantage for Iran’s non-oil economy and play a significant role in promoting cultural diplomacy.
The exhibition will take place from February 23 to 27 between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The program includes specialized meetings with stakeholders in dyeing, weaving, trade, and other segments of the handwoven carpet value chain.
