Petropars Company said rapid reaction task forces have been set up to launch Phase 12 of the giant offshore South Pars gas field in Southern Iran.

“All managers of this project are working around the clock in order to make the petroleum minister’s promises come true about more gas supply,” a Petropars official told Shana.

Hadi Mir-Baqeri, who follows up on the construction affairs of the projects, said the onshore section of South Pas has progressed more than 90 percent.

He added that at least 500 mcf of gas will be injected from this field into the national gas pipeline before the start of winter.

Mir-Baqeri said the utility, boilers and compressors are becoming operational in Phase 12, adding that the experience of other phases of South Pars are of help in this new phase of the gas field which Iran shares with Qatar.

The gas refinery of Phase 12 has a unit for removing ethane, he said.

“Currently, six wells in this phase are ready to supply 500 mcf/d of sour gas,” he added.

Phase 12 of South Pars is projected to produce 75 mcm of rich gas for delivery to the national pipeline and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) production units. Out of this amount, 25 mcm will be delivered to the national pipeline.

This phase is also forecasted to produce 120,000 b/d of gas condensate and 750 tons a day of sulfur.

Petropars is the main contractor in the development of Phase 12 of South Pars.
