Russian metallurgical company Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) expressed readiness to cooperate in Iran's mineral plans.

 

Mehdi Karbasian, Deputy Minister and Chairman of the Board of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO) said Iran has put on the agenda plans to increase capacities in copper, zinc, gold, and rare elements and also on developing training, research and exploration which is regarded as a good capacity for maintaining cooperation with Russian holding.

He referred to the €2.5-billion contract between Iranian and Russian governments, and said private sectors and the mineral industries should take advantage of the Mahdi Abad copper, zinc and gold sectors which has the biggest copper production plan as a cooperation ground with Russia.

Meanwhile, the UMMC shareholder said the holding has 40 companies in Russia and abroad.

It has 50% share in producing lead, 40% in zinc and 41% in nickel, he added.

Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company is a Russian metallurgical company based in Verkhnyaya Pyshma.

It is the second largest copper producer in Russia. The holding company was formed around joint-stock company Uralelektromed in 1999.
