Mirzemani claimed Habib had submitted his application before he took up his new position at the music department.
“Before I came to this department, Habib had already applied for a permit to release his album, but his application lay untouched,” he said of the expatriate musical artist who conducted all of his earlier musical activities in the US prior to moving to Iran.
“I don’t think they’ll issue Habib a permit because one can’t acquire a permit just by living in Iran. One of the most important considerations in issuing a permit for the release of an album is the track record of the applicant. Given Habib’s past, I think his receiving a permit is unlikely.”
