“Instead of following the logic of dialogue over different issues, the Western world, led by the [global] arrogance, has been afflicted with the delusion of sanctions against Iran,” Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei said .
He called on the West to desist from their “big miscalculations” and “the delusion of pressure and sanction” against Iran and seek solutions for the settlement of the existing crises in the Western world instead.
Rezaei pointed out that, since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation has defused all the enemy plots through prudence and unity, and called on the nation to reinforce convergence in the face of the recent enemy schemes.
Rezaei alluded to Iran's negotiations with the P5+1 - the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany - saying that all the previous talks between the two sides have in fact been in the interest of Tehran.
He argued that the two sides were close to settling their differences during a previous round of talks in the Turkish city of Istanbul in mid-April, however, the negotiations lingered due to “behind-the-scene sabotage” and the “double standards,” of some countries, particularly the US.
