"Americans do not accept Israel's foreign policy and Israel has turned into a complex problem for the US in the region because its policies do not provide for the US interests in the region at present," Mehman-Parast said, addressing the Shanghai International Studies Institute in China.
Yet, despite the differences between the US and Israel's policies in the region, Washington has kept its military buildup in the regional states to provide the security of the Zionist regime, he said.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman also viewed domination and control over energy resources as another cause of the US military presence in the region.
Iranian officials have on many occasions urged the regional states to keep vigilant against the plots hatched by Washington and Tel Aviv to destabilize those countries which are standing against the United States' and the Zionist regime's hegemonic and aggressive policies.
Mehman-Parast had also in September advised all the regional countries to keep vigilant against American-Zionist plots in the region, and underlined that the regional states "should not allow the United States and the Israeli regime to secure their interests through destabilizing those countries which are standing in the frontline of confrontation against the Zionist regime of Israel".
He further reminded the western states' dual approach towards the developments in the region, and said while the western countries launch a military raid on Libya to guarantee future oil deals and kill scores of civilians in their strikes on the Arab state, they ignore similar popular demands in Yemen and Bahrain, "and this double-standard approach of the West is unacceptable".
