“The West has reached the conclusion that the Islamic Republic is the most powerful country in the Middle East, so it is [now] trying to turn its confrontational approach into one of interaction,” Salehi said Tuesday in an exclusive interview with Iran’s Goftego (Dialog) Radio Network, IRIB reported.
“The Islamic Republic supports the rights of the oppressed and communicates its just words without reservations,” Salehi noted.
The top Iranian diplomat further described the wave of Islamic Awakening across the Muslim world as an outcome of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution and the ensuing establishment of the Islamic Republic.
“The Islamic Awakening is one of the results of this [Islamic] Revolution… that has settled in the minds of the people in the region and has led to this huge movement, and the reputation of Iran's Islamic Revolution is going to extend to the entire world,” Salehi said.
Describing Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as “unique throughout the world,” he emphasized that Iranian officials and people must act under the Leader’s guidelines and ensure that Ayatollah Khamenei’s motto for the Iranian new year (which started March 20), “Political Epic, Economic Epic,” is realized.
He went on to underline that the two types of epics complement each other since if international relations as well as foreign and domestic policies are not adequately coordinated, their adverse consequences will extend to economic issues.
“We are positioned on a launching pad and in the new year, we will take off from this [launching] pad,” Salehi said, noting that the enemy will not keep silent, but with the innovative efforts of Iranian officials, the country will be able to turn the Leader’s motto for the year into a reality.
The Iranian foreign minister further called for public vigilance against the propaganda waged by Western media conglomerates and said, “Western media try to portray justice as falsehood and fabrication as truth, and it is with insight that we can resist against their massive publicity and economic offensives.”
Emphasizing the need to further enhance international ties in the coming year, the Iranian foreign minister also urged the Iranian nation to maintain unity, pay attention to the Leader’s guidelines and use prudence to thwart enemy plots.
Salehi concluded his remarks by pointing to the extensive news coverage that the Islamic Republic gets in foreign media, reflecting the might of the Iranian nation in the faceoff between truth and falsehood.
