Enemies of Iran are striving hard to decrease people's turnout in the upcoming presidential election through various means and plots, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei cautioned on Tuesday.

Addressing a large crowd of people at Imam Khomeini's mausoleum South of Tehran on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the demise of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the significance of strong public participation in June 14 presidential election.

The most important matter in the election is to create a political epic and the enthusiastic participation of the people in the polls, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated.

"They (enemies) wish either a low turnout in the election or sedition to emerge after the election," the Leader stated.

The Leader further noted that the Iranian nation, with its massive turnout and its resolve, will give a firm and crushing response to the plots of the enemies.

Iranian voters will go to over 66,000 polling stations inside and outside the country on June 14 to elect their next president.

Campaigning for the June 14 presidential election kicked off in Iran on May 22 after the Guardian Council released the list of 8 qualified candidates.

The eight qualified candidates represent a wide range of political streams from Principlists to reformers.

Campaigning will continue up to June 13, that is 24 hours before the start of the election.
