“We, the representatives of the great nation of Iran, strongly condemn this anti-Islamic and inhumane action by the European Union and express our firm support for Hezbollah and its brave leader, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah,” the MPs said in a statement on Tuesday.
They described Hezbollah as the “symbol of resistance against the Zionist regime” of Israel and a source of “honor for the Islamic Ummah.”
The Iranian lawmakers noted that the EU has blacklisted the Hezbollah movement under pressure from the US and Zionist lobbies.
On Monday, the EU's 28 foreign ministers unanimously made a decision to put Hezbollah on its blacklist after hours of discussions. The move came after prolonged diplomatic pressure from Washington and Israel.
The Iranian MPs said world Muslims, including the Iranian nation, will respond to the EU on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan, observed as International Quds Day.
In 1979, Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, designated the last Friday of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, during which Muslims across the world hold rallies to show their solidarity with Palestinians.
