Rouhani said that enrichment is a right not banned under international law and Tehran will never stop the activity inside the country.
“Enrichment, which is one part of our nuclear right, will continue, it is continuing today and it will continue tomorrow and our enrichment will never stop and this is our redline,” Rouhani said during the address to mark his 100th day in office.
Commenting on Iran's recent nuclear deal with the six world powers, the president said that the accord has created cracks in the sanctions regime imposed against the country.
Rouhani stressed that his administration managed to neutralize a rift of unilateral and multilateral sanctions against Iran.
The Iranian president also said the country's enemies that tried to spread Iranophobia across the world are isolated more than ever.
“Many were trying to isolate Iran, but who is isolated today? Our enemies are in fact isolated,” Rouhani added.
Iran President also said the Islamic Republic took the first step on the difficult nuclear path following a nuclear deal sealed between Tehran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
“On the nuclear issue, the first step has been taken while observing principles and frameworks set by the Islamic establishment,” Rouhani said.
He added that the country succeeded in achieving the agreement in the first step of a “very difficult” path thanks to the guidelines and support of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
“This is a hard and difficult path but we hope that we will also be able to achieve success in the next phases and defend the [Iranian] nation’s rights,” President Rouhani stated.
Rouhani further noted that reducing tension with Western countries is among the objectives of the Iranian government’s foreign policy.
He expressed hope “illegal sanctions” on the Iranian nation would be lifted and the administration would restore Iranian rights.
The Iranian President has also described Middle East as a highly sensitive region, stating that regional problems have doubled ever since colonial powers created the bogus regime of Israel.
“Over the past 65 years, Zionists’ footprints could be traced in any scourge and problem in the region,” he said.
The Iranian president noted, “There is no way to rescue the region other than bring peoples together and creating solidarity and unity among them.”
Rouhani went on to say that world powers have long pursued their interests through religious and ethnic disputes, stressing that foreign military intervention has led to an uptick in regional troubles and a decline in regional stability over the recent years.
“There is not a single day when one cannot witness bloodshed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Syria and more recently in Lebanon,” he commented.
Turning to the twin bomb blasts that targeted the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon’s capital, the Iranian president stated that even though such attempts seek to discourage Iran and Lebanon from supporting the anti-Israeli resistance front, they will not be able to stop the two countries from pursuing their lofty and major goals.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has also reiterated Tehran’s opposition to any military intervention in Syria, pledging political and humanitarian assistance to the crisis-hit country.
“There is no military solution to the crisis in Syria, and restoring stability and peace in the friendly country of Syria is one of the objectives pursued by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Rouhani stated.
He also praised the Syrian government for foiling foreign war threats through full cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and eliminating its entire chemical arsenal under OPCW supervision.
Rouhani further warned of the terrorist activities carried out by foreign-sponsored militants and Takfiri extremists in Syria as a threat not only to Syrians but also the whole region.
The Iranian president also voiced Tehran's concern over the aggravating conditions for Syrian refugees given the growing insecurity and the prospects of a winter cold snap.
“We will exhaust all our potentials to provide political and international assistance and humanitarian aid for the people of Syria,” he vowed.
