The top Iranian official, at the head of a delegation, arrived in Turkey on Friday to attend the 3rd trilateral meeting of the foreign minister of the three neighboring countries.
Iran’s Zarif, Turkey’s Ahmet Davutoglu and Azerbaijan’s Elmar Mammadyarov are scheduled to discuss the expansion of ties through joint projects.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Zarif will also hold separate bilateral talks with his opposite numbers.
The aim of the visit is to boost regional cooperation, contribute to the restoration of peace and stability in the region and expand relations between the three countries.
Four sub-committees of energy, trade, culture and transportation will discuss the expansion of ties on the sidelines of the trilateral meeting.
The first tripartite meeting between the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan was held in the northwestern Iranian city of Orumiyeh, in April 2011.
A second meeting was held in the Azeri city of Nakhichevan in March 2012 in order to discuss tripartite cooperation between the neighboring countries in the fields of energy, transportation and trade as well as a joint campaign against terrorism, smuggling and organized crime.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has arrived in Turkey to attend a trilateral meeting with his Turkish and Azeri counterparts.
