Iran is looking out for strategic buyers of oil in the world, director for strategic planning of the Petroleum Ministry said on Saturday.

“We have to choose the best clients for oil or gas and we have to look for strategic clients and partners,” SHANA quoted Saeed Qovapour as saying.

The official added that the Petroleum Ministry is developing a strategic plan for oil and gas sales in the future.

“We have a wide range of clients. Some of them are rich and some others are penniless. We may negotiate more easily with a client,” he added.

“Over the past ten years, strategic aspects have been ignored in the petroleum industry because Iran has had its own clients and the entire world needed Iran’s oil. But now, due to Iran’s sanctions conditions and more competitive market, more analysts and strategists are needed,” said Qovapour.

He said that Iran has to regain its markets lost due to international sanctions slapped on the country for its peaceful nuclear program.

“Today, there is tight competition among countries possessing oil and gas for wining bigger shares of the market. Therefore, strategic planning is needed,” he concluded.
