Iran's First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri, in a message on Wednesday, extended his congratulation to Ahmet Davutoğlu on his appointment as the country's prime minister.


Jahangiri expressed hope that the two countries would witness further consolidation of ties during Davutoğlu tenure.

The Iranian official also wished success and prosperity for the Turkish government and the nation.

Iran and Turkey signed 10 economic agreements during a visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the head of a high-ranking delegation to Turkey in June.

The value of trade between Iran and Turkey in the first half of 2014 stood at $6.5bln, according to data released by Turkish Statistical Institute.
