Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani is to leave Tehran for Switzerland later today to participate in the upcoming meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The top Iranian lawmaker, who will leave Tehran for Geneva on Sunday afternoon along with a parliamentary delegation, will deliver a speech at the 131st IPU meeting on Tuesday.

Over 700 lawmakers from 141 countries, including 104 speakers and vice-speakers, will attend the confab from October 12 to 16.

The Geneva-based Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is an important non-governmental parliamentary institution, was founded in 1889.
