"Iran is ready to expand its relations with the Netherlands in different areas through utilizing the existing capacities," Zarif said in a meeting with his Dutch counterpart Albert Koenders in Geneva on Monday.
He called Holland as Iran's important trade partner, and said, "… the two countries should increase the volume of their trade exchanges by taking the existing opportunities."
The Dutch foreign minister, for his part, underscored Iran's special status in the region, and said, "Tehran plays a key role in regional developments."
The two foreign ministers also discussed the ongoing talks between Iran and the world powers as well as the developments in Iraq and Syria.
Zarif arrived in Geneva earlier today to partake in the annual conference of the UN Human Rights Council and hold separate meetings with his counterparts on international developments and Iran's nuclear program.
The top Iranian diplomat who is visiting Geneva at the top of a high-ranking delegation is going to meet with his US counterpart John Kerry too.
Zarif is likely to meet with his counterparts from the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany on Iranian nuclear issue as well.
Zarif is accompanied by Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi.
The Iranian and American teams of negotiators had several days of talks in Geneva late last month.
Then after two days of negotiations, Zarif, Salehi and President Rouhani's brother and senior aide Hossein Fereidoun as well as Kerry and US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz joined their deputies in the talks.
