Director General of PSEEZ Customs Department Khodadad Rahimi said over 1.89 million tons of gas condensate and petrochemical products, showing a 35-percent increase in terms of weight compared with the same period last year, were exported during the period.
Rahimi noted that major export destinations for the South Pars products during the aforesaid period included China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Romania, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Afghanistan.
South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar’s territorial waters.
The gas field is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
