Iran to Host International Padel Tournaments

Iran has hosted international padel competitions for the first time under the supervision of the International Padel Federation (FIP)—an event that could strengthen the position of this emerging sport on the country’s sporting map and turn Iran into a new regional destination for padel.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, According to the Iran Tennis Federation, after months of consultations and coordination with the International Padel Federation, Iran has been awarded the hosting rights for two weeks of official FIP Bronze tournaments. The men’s competitions will be held in Tehran and, for the first time, will take place on Iranian soil under the direct supervision of the FIP.

Based on the announced schedule, the tournaments will be held from 30 Farvardin to 31 Ordibehesht 1405 (approximately April to May 2026). The first week will be hosted by NextLevel Club, while the second week will take place at FGB Club in Tehran—two venues that have played an active role in developing padel infrastructure in Iran in recent years.

Padel, a sport combining elements of tennis and squash, has seen rapid growth in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East in recent years. It is now developed under the International Padel Federation in more than 90 countries worldwide. Hosting official FIP events—especially at the Bronze level—allows countries not only to attract international players but also to pave the way for the professional development of domestic athletes.

According to the Iran Tennis Federation, these tournaments will provide an important opportunity for padel players from various countries to compete in Tehran. At the same time, Iranian athletes will have the chance to participate in an official international tournament, earn world ranking points, and raise their competitive level.

From the perspective of sports observers, awarding the hosting rights of FIP Bronze tournaments to Iran is seen as a sign of Tehran’s efforts to play a more active role in official emerging sports events and to expand its engagement with international sports organizations—an approach that could eventually lead to hosting higher-level global padel competitions in the future.
