Official Apology by RT Network for Using a Fake Name for the Persian Gulf

RT (Russia Today) has issued an official statement apologizing for using the fabricated term “Arabian Gulf” instead of the historically and internationally recognized name “Persian Gulf” in one of its previous reports, calling the mistake inconsistent with the network’s editorial policies and professional standards.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, In its statement, RT said that in an earlier article the incorrect term was used in error and that the content has since been removed. The network acknowledged responsibility for the mistake and emphasized its commitment to accuracy, credibility, and journalistic integrity.

RT further stressed that the use of the name “Persian Gulf” is consistent with historical facts and international documentation, adding that the error did not reflect the outlet’s official stance or editorial approach. The network apologized to its audience and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high professional standards in its news coverage.

The apology followed the publication of a report by RT on what it described as the first drone launch by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Persian Gulf, in which the incorrect and politically charged term had been used, prompting criticism and reactions across media platforms and social networks.
