Iranian Diplomat: Trump Says No Attack, But Iran on High Alert

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri-Maqam, said the U.S. has informed Iran it does not intend to attack, but urged restraint and warned against targeting U.S. interests in the region.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, According to a Pakistani media report, Amiri-Maqam stated that U.S. President Donald Trump told Iran he has no intention of attacking, while also calling on Tehran to avoid threatening U.S. interests.

However, Amiri-Maqam emphasized that Iran remains at a high state of alert and would target U.S. and Israeli facilities in the region if attacked.

Recent days have seen repeated tough U.S. statements against Iran, met with strong Iranian responses. Iranian officials have stressed that any U.S. threat will be met with a firm counter-respo nse.
