According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, In an interview with the Al Mayadeen television network, Shamkhani said that Iran’s “absolute priority under the current conditions is achieving full readiness to deter any form of threat.” According to him, Iran’s message is unequivocal: any move signaling hostile intent will be answered with a proportionate, effective, and deterrent response.
He noted that such a response could include targeting the “strategic depth of the Israeli regime,” signaling Tehran’s intent to project deterrence beyond limited or localized arenas of conflict.
Shamkhani further emphasized that Iran’s preparedness is not confined to maritime domains, adding that the country is ready for “broader and more advanced scenarios.” His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions following what Iranian officials describe as escalating U.S. military involvement in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Downplaying the significance of increased foreign military presence in regional waters, Shamkhani said that deployment alone does not translate into superiority. “This region is our home,” he stated. “We understand its geography and capacities thoroughly, and no external force possesses a deeper understanding of the components of comprehensive defense here than we do.”
He added that Iran’s defensive and offensive doctrines have been shaped precisely on this strategic foundation. Shamkhani also claimed that Tehran has full intelligence awareness of an adversary’s operational plans, warning that Iran would strike critical points at the appropriate time to neutralize those plans.
“If circumstances require,” he said, “the Islamic Republic of Iran will resort to more fundamental and effective options to defend its national security and territorial integrity.”
He concluded by warning that responsibility for any consequences would rest squarely with the party that, driven by an illusion of power projection, seeks to undermine the resolve of the Iranian nation.
