Larijani Meets Putin in Moscow

Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, January 30, at the Kremlin, in a meeting that has drawn attention amid ongoing regional and international tensions.

According to Khabaronline, According to Russia’s Interfax news agency, the Kremlin confirmed that President Putin received the senior Iranian security official. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, also confirmed the meeting, though only limited details were released in the initial reports.

Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, said the discussions focused primarily on expanding bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation. He added that the two sides also exchanged views on key regional and international issues

The meeting comes as Tehran and Moscow have intensified efforts in recent years to broaden their cooperation beyond political and security coordination, extending into economic, energy, and infrastructure sectors. This push has gained momentum as both countries face sustained Western pressure, sanctions, and an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
