Iran and Egypt Presidents Stress Diplomacy in Phone Call on Regional Tensions

In a continued round of regional diplomatic outreach, the presidents of Iran and Egypt held a telephone conversation to discuss regional developments, de-escalation efforts, and the role of diplomacy in addressing ongoing tensions, underscoring the priority of political solutions over military options.

According to Khabaronline, During the call, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the responsible and constructive efforts of Islamic countries aimed at reducing tensions in the region and supporting stability. He reaffirmed Iran’s principled foreign policy, which prioritizes internal cohesion and the strengthening of cordial relations with neighboring and Islamic countries.

Referring to the actions of the United States and Israel in escalating hostilities, imposing pressure and sanctions, and fueling regional confrontations, Pezeshkian stressed that Iran has neither sought war nor views it as beneficial for Iran, the region, or international actors. He emphasized that from Tehran’s perspective, war is not a solution to regional crises.

The Iranian president highlighted the necessity of advancing diplomatic processes based on mutual respect, equality, and dialogue free from threats, noting that diplomacy has always taken precedence over war in Iran’s approach to resolving disputes. At the same time, he warned that any attack on Iranian territory would be met with a firm response, while reiterating that diplomacy remains Iran’s preferred path.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, for his part, welcomed the exchange and expressed his hopes for peace, stability, and security for the people of Iran and the wider region. He underlined that there is no military solution to the region’s challenges.

El-Sisi also cautioned that any escalation of tensions would have negative consequences not only for Iran but for the entire region, adding that Egypt will continue its efforts to ease tensions and stands ready to support diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving disputes and strengthening regional stability.
