Completion of 1,200 tourism projects out of 1,900 by the end of President Rouhani’s government (2020) has given a momentum to tourism industry, said the head of Iran’s tourism body.

“In the firsy year of President Rouhani's second term (2017), Iran held great international tourism events, reviving the industry”, said the Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization Ali Asghar Mounesan.

He made the remarks in the 2018 Hamedan international conference adding, “2018 Tabriz, international registration of Iran’s natural and cultural heritage ceremonies, joint cultural exhibitions with other countries, and 2018 Hamedan are among the international tourism events held in Iran”.

“Economic experts believe that tourism industry is the best road to sustainable development which imposes the least economic and social costs to countries”, he added.

Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Secretary General Bundit Limschoon, Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization, and some Asian ministers and ambassadors also attend the conference during their 2-day visit to Hamedan.

2018 Hamedan event was dubbed after Hamedan's selection as the capital of Asian tourism by ACD.
