Iraq’s Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has expressed hope that the upcoming talks between Iran and the six major world powers in the Iraqi city of Baghdad would yield positive results.

Positive results in the talks between Iran and the P5+1 will benefit regional countries, Zebari said in a meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on the sidelines of a Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) ministerial meeting in Egypt on Wednesday.

Iraq’s top diplomat said that constructive talks would also benefit Iraq’s status as a regional and international player. He further pointed out that Baghdad has made all preparations for the May 23 meeting.

The representatives of Iran and the P5+1- Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany- resumed their talks in the Turkish city of Istanbul on April 14.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the general atmosphere of the negotiations and agreed to continue talks in Baghdad in May.

Salehi is in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm al-Sheikh to attend a two-day-long ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which started on Wednesday.

The Coordinating Bureau ministerial meeting is a preparation for the NAM summit to be later held in Iran late August.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Salehi also held talks with his counterparts from different countries including Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

During the meeting, Salehi said Iran supports cooperation among regional countries with the aim of guaranteeing peace and stability, and promoting welfare and development in the region.

Nalbandian also invited Salehi to visit Yerevan and hoped that talks between Iran-P5+1 would obtain favorable results in Iraq.

Salehi also held separate talks with his counterparts from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, North Korea and Yemen.

NAM, an international organization with 120 member states, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. It represents nearly two-thirds of the UN members.
