Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili has arrived in Russia to attend the third annual international conference of high-ranking security officials.

Jalili, heading a delegation, will take part and deliver a speech in the conference. He is also scheduled to meet with the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev as well as heads of participating delegations on the sidelines of the conference.

The security conference, which began in the city of Saint Petersburg, will discuss information security, international energy security as well as the fight against piracy.

Security officials from more than 70 countries and international organizations are participating in the two-day conference.

Apart from attending the conference, heads of participating delegations will also hold bilateral meetings to discuss regional and international developments as well as matters of mutual interest.

The Saint Petersburg meeting is the third international security conference hosted by Russia.

The first and the second meetings were held in the cities of Sochi and Yekaterinburg in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
