245 Iranian lawmakers issued a statement on Sunday in which they threw their weight behind the Syrian government in its fight against extremists groups which enjoy support of Israel, the U.S. and some dictatorial Arab regimes.

In their statement the lawmakers said Syria “should determinedly cut the hand of interventionists” in Syrian affairs.

The MPs also said they back any reforms by the Syrian government which would lead to the involvement of the Syrians in their destiny.

“We the representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, while expressing our support for any reforms and endorsement of any solution (to the Syrian crisis) which would lead to the participation of people in their destiny, are sure that global heathendom and reactionary Arab kings, whose existence is dependent on anti-Islam superpowers, have no good intention and the nation and government of Syria should determinedly cut the hand of interventionists,” part of the statement said.
