A senior Iranian lawmaker says the forthcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran will thwart US and Israel’s propaganda against Iran.

“NAM member states have always stood against the expansionist policies of the United States and other bullying countries. They have also voiced support for the Islamic Republic of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities in numerous meetings,” head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi noted on Sunday.

He added that the 16th NAM summit in Tehran is a great achievement for Iran as it will invalidate the US and Israeli allegations about existence of a globally unanimous front against the Islamic Republic.

“Iran's enemies have repeated this big lie every now and then. Nevertheless, the presence of leaders and representatives of 120 NAM member countries in Tehran will display great potential of Iran," Boroujerdi pointed out.

He added that the high number of countries supporting Iran's nuclear energy program attests to the fact that the US has failed in its anti-Iran propaganda, and Washington rather than Tehran is internationally isolated.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states will be held in the Iranian capital on August 26-31.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will address the Tehran NAM summit, which will be also attended by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

During Tehran meeting, the Islamic Republic will assume the rotating presidency of the movement for three years.
