An Iranian lawmaker says the forthcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran will be disadvantageous to the US and the Israeli regime.

“The Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran with the participation of some 100 countries will definitely counter all the [global] arrogance’s propaganda against Iran because the officials of the countries will see firsthand the realities [about the Islamic Republic],” said a member of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, Abbas-Ali Mansouri Arani, on Friday.

He added that the arrogance has always pursued the policy of Iran's isolation in the international community and seeks to downplay the significance of the NAM summit as it regards the meeting in opposition to its policies.

The legislator stated that the NAM summit will display Iran's regional and extra-regional power and emphasized that the meeting would reaffirm the Islamic Republic’s leading role in international equations.

Mansouri noted that the Tehran summit would certainly entail positive consequences for Iran's diplomacy.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states will be held in the Iranian capital on August 26-31.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will address the Tehran NAM summit.

NAM, an international organization with 120 member states, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.
