Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has described Tehran as a reliable partner to Europe, saying both sides should develop relations based on cooperation and mutual respect.

“Tehran is a reliable partner to Europe and our relations should be based on cooperation and mutual respect,” Salehi said at a meeting with the new Swedish Ambassador to Tehran, Peter Taylor on Tuesday.

Highlighting Iran’s progress in science, medicine, and technology, Salehi said, “There are many potentials and capacities for the development of bilateral cooperation and we are fully prepared for the expansion of ties [with Europe] in economic, trade, cultural, and scientific areas.”

During the meeting, the Swedish envoy submitted his credentials to the top Iranian diplomat.

He also expressed Stockholm’s readiness for the expansion of the two sides’ cooperation and bilateral talks.
