Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the ceasefire in Syria can make progress only if all sides respect it.

"The 20-month-long support rendered by certain parties to irresponsible armed groups in Syria has inflicted casualties and financial loss on the Syrian people and paved the way for the presence of extremist armed groups," Amir Abdollahian told reporters on the sidelines of a conference on Burundi development in Geneva on Monday.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister said the unrest in Syria is spreading to other neighbors, adding that the parties supporting arms shipments to Syria have prevented maintenance of peace in the country.

"All sides should back the truce in Syria and cooperate with UN and Arab League's Special Envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi to provide the grounds for national talks between representatives of all people, opposition figures and the government," Amir Abdollahian said.

He noted that the Syrian government has abided by the ceasefire, and said "irresponsible armed groups" are impeding restoration of calm and tranquility for the Syrian people.

The 4-day truce ends at 12:00 am local time, while terrorist and armed groups have continued violating it since the start on Friday.

The truce in Syria was put into effect on Friday after Syria's General Command of Army declared truce for Eid al-Adha holidays (started on October 26).

The so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) terrorists violated the ceasefire for the fourth day in row in the two Syrian cities of Damascus and Idlib on Monday.

In the capital Damascus on Monday morning, a blast was heard near Teshrin Hospital, the Breaking News website reported. The report did not provide any details on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the blast.

A car bomb was also detonated in Reef district of Damascus. The report did not provide any further details.

The terrorists also violated the truce for the fourth day in the Idlib city near the Turkish border by firing 10 rockets at residential areas in the city's Hay al-Tarameh district. A total of 20 civilians, including three children were killed in the rocket attacks.

Also, on the third day of the unilateral truce - as it is only respected by the Damascus government - FSA violated the ceasefire in the two Syrian cities of Aleppo and Deir al-Zour.

A mortar shell hit near a market in the city of Aleppo early Sunday morning, which left damages to the market, Taht al-Mahjar news agency reported.

The terrorists also attacked different districts of the city of Aleppo.

In the Eastern city of Deir al-Zour, the terrorists who attacked a security checkpoint in al-Halabieh district on Sunday were confronted by the Syrian security forces. An al-Qaeda leader in Syria, Ammar al-Hajr, was killed in the clashes, the report said.

The terrorists also attacked al-Roshdiyeh district in Deir al-Zour.

On Saturday, a car bomb blasted in Eastern Syria. According to the Syrian TV, the car bomb went off in front a church in Deir al-Zour in Eastern Syria.

Another car bomb attack in Daf Shawk district of Damascus on Friday left five people killed and 32 others injured.

Also on Friday, a car bomb attack in the Southwestern Syrian city of Daraa killed 11 people.
