Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says Iranian Armed Forces have succeeded in achieving complete self-sufficiency in designing, building, repairing and storing different kinds of defense equipment.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s forces currently have such high capability and readiness that can give a crushing response to any possible threat from the enemy at any degree on the ground, the sub-surface and air levels,” Sayyari said on Friday.

He added that the illegal sanctions imposed on the Islamic establishment indicate Iran’s increasing capability and determining role in the region.

The commander noted that Western countries have always imposed sanctions on Iran over the past 33 years and emphasized that the Iranian nation should have the capability to turn threats into opportunities.

Iran started a self-sufficiency campaign in the defense industry and launched numerous military projects after the victory of the Islamic Revolution over 30 years ago.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
