Iran Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani has discussed major regional developments with Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Turkish counterpart, Cemil Cicek.

Larijani told reporters on Saturday that solutions to regional issues as well as major developments in the region, including the recent victory of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over Israel have been discussed in the meetings.

The Iranian official arrived in Turkey on Saturday in the last leg of his two-day regional tour which took him to Syria and Lebanon as well.

Larijani said upon his arrival in Istanbul that the aim of his visit was to hold talks with Turkish officials on major regional developments.


In Lebanon, Larijani met with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, and Secretary-General of Hezbollah Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.

During his visit to Damascus, he met with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Larijani wrapped up his regional tour on Saturday.

Over 160 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and about 1,200 others were injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza that were carried out during the eight-day period of November 14-21.

In retaliation, Palestinian resistance fighters fired rockets and missiles into Israeli cities, killing at least five Israelis.

On Wednesday, Egypt announced that the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas had reached a cease-fire agreement. Under the deal, the Palestinians and Israelis agreed to end all hostilities.
