Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Islam has cast aside all of the Western isms to “have the first say in the world as the propeller of the human society.”

“With the conception of Iran's Islamic Revolution the ‘isms’ of the world, such as Nationalism, slowly faded and Islamism has now found its place in the world,” Salehi said.

Islam has succeeded in “penetrating all layers of humanity” and continues to spread among all human societies, he added.
Salehi made the comments during the Eighth International Conference on the Doctrine of Mahdism, which kicked off in Tehran on Thursday with the presence of senior Iranian political and religious figures.

“The concept of Mahdism is not specific to one single religion only, but belongs to all the divine religions,” he said.

According to Islam, Mahdism is the belief in the 12th Imam of Shia Islam, who is expected to emerge from the Occultation to fulfill his role and lead the faithful to salvation.

The belief varies under different names in different religions. The fundamentals of different religions show the recurring theme of the Messiah, who is anticipated as the savior and liberator.

This belief can be found in Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism as well as a host of other religions.
