Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, held a meeting with the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, in Tehran on Monday.

During the meeting, Jalili expressed satisfaction with the fact that Iraq has succeeded in surmounting security and political obstacles thanks to its democratic structure.

Jalili also described Iraq’s regional and international status as important, noting that its cooperation with other regional countries will increase security and stability in the region.

And Iraq’s presidency of the Council of the Arab League has provided the country with good opportunities, the Iranian official added.

Hakim briefed Jalili on the latest developments in Iraq and said that certain efforts are underway to undermine security in his country.

He added a bright future awaits the Iraqi nation.

In addition, Jalili met with former Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari and the secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad Shallah, on Monday.
