Iran's Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani says the Islamic Republic is always prepared to offer any assistance to Iraq for the stabilization of peace, progress and development in the country.

Larijani also called for the reinforcement of brotherly relations between the two countries in a Thursday meeting with Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Iraqi parliament Humam al-Hamoudi.
He underlined the significance of bilateral parliamentarian cooperation and said Majlis supports the expansion of ties between Tehran and Baghdad in all areas.

Iran’s top parliamentarian said Iraq’s chairmanship of the Arab League provided the country with an opportunity to promote its status and role in the region, adding that the Islamic Republic is keen to cooperate with Iraq in the establishment of a lasting peace in the region.

Commenting on the developments in the region, particularly in Syria, the Majlis speaker said any solution aimed at ending the crisis in the country needs to be based on the will of the Syrians in determining their own future.

He also lauded Egyptian presidential election and hoped that the situation in Egypt would develop in line with the people’s will and demands.

The Iraqi official for his part emphasized the ties with Iran and said the Iraqi parliament supports any measure aimed at expanding cooperation with Tehran.
