A senior Iranian official has lashed out at the West for adopting delusional tactics against Iran instead of choosing logical channels to resolve its differences with the Islamic Republic.

“Instead of following the logic of dialogue over different issues, the Western world, led by the [global] arrogance, has been afflicted with the delusion of sanctions against Iran,” Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei said on Wednesday. He called on the West to desist from their “big miscalculations” and “the delusion of pressure and sanction” against Iran and seek solutions for the settlement of the existing crises in the Western world instead.

Rezaei pointed out that, since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation has defused all the enemy plots through prudence and unity, and called on the nation to reinforce convergence in the face of the recent enemy schemes.

Rezaei alluded to Iran's negotiations with the P5+1 - the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany - saying that all the previous talks between the two sides have in fact been in the interest of Tehran.
In June, Iran and the P5+1 - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany - agreed to hold expert-level talks during their negotiations in the Russian capital, Moscow.

The next round of the expert-level talks over Tehran’s nuclear energy program has been scheduled to be held in the Turkish city of Istanbul on July 24.

Iran and the P5+1 representatives held their last such meeting on July 3 in Istanbul.
