Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has condemned terrorist attacks against Ildis Faizov, a Sunni cleric in Tatarstan, and his deputy Valiulla Yakupov.

Mehmanparast said terrorism is against the teachings of divine religions and is an inhumane act.
Mufti Faizov’s vehicle blew up in an explosion on Thursday in the capital city Kazan and Yakupov was gunned down outside his residence.

Mehmanparast further expressed hope that all governments and the followers of divine faiths would make efforts to seriously fight this evil phenomenon in order to establish security in the world.

Reports suggest that both Faizov and Yakupov were anti-extremist activists and the attacks may have taken place due to their opposition to radicalism.

The Republic of Tatarstan is located in Russia’s Volga district with a population of nearly 3,800,000.
