Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underscored that the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran was a victory against the West, and stated that NAM members' consensus about the final statement was among the great achievements of the summit.

Speaking on Saturday, Salehi said even a number of western media called the summit as a victory of Iran against the West.

The Iranian minister underlined that the biggest achievement of Tehran summit was the fact that the final statement was approved without any reservation.

He said that in the statement special attention was paid to the issue of Palestine.

As regards the movement's stance on Syria, the Iranian minister said that in the report of Special Rapporteur, it has been said that chairman of the NAM should consult with the countries which are interested in Syrian issue and prepare a report.

Also, it was decided that a special working group to be established in New York to fulfill motto of the meeting that was Lasting Peace through Joint Global Governance.

He stressed that grounds for formation of working groups were envisaged in the final statement in cases like revising the UN structure and promotion of NAM position.

The 16th heads-of-state summit of the NAM officially wrapped up work in Tehran on Friday night by issuing a final statement.

During the two-day meeting presided by President Ahmadinejad a number of 63 leaders of the NAM member states conveyed their opinions to their counterparts in the largest international grouping after the UN.

The NAM conference kicked off work here in the Iranian capital last Sunday. NAM's experts first discussed the agenda of the summit meeting on Sunday and Monday followed by the foreign ministers' meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday before the two-day heads-of-state summit which ended last night.
