"Exports of different metals from the province have increased 24.5% in the first 7 months of the current year compared with the same period last year," Head of East Azarbaijan province's Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Mohammad Jafar Ozmayee told reporters.
He said that the province has exported $90.4mln worth of metal products to over 85 countries of the world during the aforementioned period.
In relevant remarks in October, a senior official said that Iran has increased extraction of metal minerals by 30 percent in the last two years.
"Extraction of metal minerals has increased by 30 percent over the past two years, while (the country's) metal mineral reserves increased by 9 percent during the said period," Deputy Industry, Mine and Commerce Minister for mining and mineral industries, Vajihollah Jafari said at the time.
He also pointed out that extraction and export of iron and copper ores are also on the rise.

Iran's East Azarbaijan province increased metal exports to foreign countries by over 24% during the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (started on March 20) compared with the same period last year, a senior provincial official announced on Saturday.
