"Surely, with the help of God and the efforts of the two countries' officials and through bilateral agreements, we will witness wide strides in the relations between the two countries," Ahmadinejad said.
The Vietnamese Parliament Speaker Nguyen Sinh Hung, for his part, welcomed President Ahmadinejad's visit to Hanoi, and said that Iran-Vietnam relations have always benefited the two countries.
"The relations between the two countries have been in line with global peace and stability and benefited the Iranian and Vietnamese nations (and other nations)," he said, adding that the two nations share abundant commonalities in defending independence, unity and integrity," he said.
Yesterday, the Iranian president met with his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi.
At the meeting, Ahmadinejad reiterated that Tehran sees no boundary for expanding economic, industrial, cultural, scientific, and technological relations with Vietnam.
Ahmadinejad added that the two countries are determined to enhance their mutual cooperation.
"Iran is determined to make use of the huge potential of the two countries to develop each other's economies."
Ahmadinejad arrived in Vietnam on Friday for a two-day official visit after attending the Fifth Bali Democracy Forum in Indonesia.
In Indonesia, President Ahmadinejad and his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono explored avenues for the further expansion of relations between the two Muslim countries.
