Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani renewed Tehran’s full support for the Palestinians, and said resistance and fight against Israel are the only ways to liberate Palestine.

Resistance and campaign against the Zionist regime is the only way to liberate Palestine and securing the rights of its oppressed people,” Larijani said in a meeting with Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Ramazan Abdullah in Tehran on Wednesday.

Larijani stressed that the victories of the Palestinians, specially in the 8-day and 22-day wars against the all-out onslaughts of Israel, opened a new chapter in the history of the Palestinian campaigns.

Abdullah, for his part, thanked Iran’s constant support for Palestinian Islamic resistance movements, and said, “Iran has always been the main supporter of the Palestinian nation's cause and goals.

Last month, Iranian Parliament Speaker’s top advisor for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said the Iranian Committee for Supporting the Palestinian Nation welcomes naming the year 2014 as the Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The naming was done by the UN. The resolution was adopted by the majority of member-states with 110 voting in favor, 7 opposed and 54 abstaining.

The year-long observance will entail organizing special events in cooperation with “governments, relevant organizations of the United Nations system, intergovernmental organizations and civil society.”

The new resolution was passed on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The UN marks that day with a special session, including a meeting on the ‘Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian people’ and a concert featuring Palestinian musicians.

Sheikholeslam, who is also the head of the NGOs and activists who support freedom of Quds, in a message to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon welcomed naming 2014 as the ‘Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People’, and underlined the Iranian Committee’s readiness to cooperate with the UN in this regard.

“…we appreciate your decisive efforts and the UN General Assembly for naming the year 2014 as the ‘Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People’,” Sheikholeslam said in his message.
Early in February 2012, Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei categorically denied Iran's interference in Bahrain, but meantime stressed Iran's direct involvement in the Palestinian and Lebanese confrontation against Israel, including the Lebanese Summer 2006 33-day resistance against the Zionist regime.

"Wherever Iran interferes, it announces it in a very straightforward manner. For instance, we interfered in confrontations against Israel, which resulted in the (Lebanese) victory in the 33-day war and (Palestinians' victory in) the 22-day (Gaza) war," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing millions of Friday Prayers worshippers on Tehran University Campus today.

"In future too, we will support and help everyone who opposes the Zionist regime," the Leader underscored.

"The Zionist regime is a real cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut, God Willing," Ayatollah Khamenei underscored.
