The Islamic Republic of Iran collapsed six positions in new edition of the FIFA rankings to land in the 49th spot in the world.

According to the latest monthly rankings released on 17 July 2014, the Iranian team collected 563 points and stood after Japan at the second place among Asian teams.

The Japanese are followed by the Iran, Uzbeks and Korea Republic who occupy the 49th, 52th and 56th spots respectively with 563, 523 and 501 points.

Germany are reaping the rewards of their successful World Cup campaign and have gone top of the FIFA Rankings for the first time in around 20 years with 1724 points.

Argentina have moved from fifth place to second following the 1-0 loss against Germany, with Netherlands occupying the final podium spot after their third-place finish at the World Cup.

Spain have dropped from first to eighth place following their disappointing campaign in Brazil.

Colombia (fourth), Belgium (fifth), Uruguay (sixth), Brazil (seventh), Switzerland (ninth) and France (10th) complete the top 10.

Algeria are Africa's top representative in 24th, with Cote d'Ivoire sitting in 25th and Nigeria the 34th-placed team (climbing 10 places).

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on 14 August 2014.
