"The Syrian people's message in the presidential election was that they will not allow extremists and those seeking violence to affect their will and determination," Jahangiri said in a phone conversation with Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Monday.
He expressed the hope that the Syrian government and nation could take effective steps to strengthen national partnership and reconstruct their country.
Jahangiri referred to the proper cooperation between Iran and Syria, and reiterated continued humanitarian aids by the Islamic Republic to the Syrian people.
Halqi, for his part, appreciated Tehran for its support and assistance to the Syrian people, and said highly positive developments are underway to activate national reconciliation in Syria as the army is gaining more victories against the terrorists each day.
In relevant remarks on Thursday, the United Nations Special Coordinator of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in Syria Sigrid Kaag praised Iran for its positive efforts to establish peace and stability in Syria.
Kaag made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran.
She appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support for the establishment of peace and security in Syria.
"It is a collective success that would be fully achieved through the constructive support of Iran and Syria," Kaag added.
Amir Abdollhian, for his part, stressed that the Syrian crisis can be only resolved through political means, and described the Zionist regime as a center of threat in terms of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in the region and the entire world.
Syria has been the scene of deadly violence since March 2011. Over 130,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the crisis.
The western powers and their regional allies - specially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
