President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that Tehran welcomes active presence of Russian investment companies and private sectors.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Summit in China.

Tehran and Moscow can broaden cooperation in energy swap, defense and transit of goods, President Rouhani said.

Iran also welcomes expansion of economic cooperation with Eurasia and Russia's joining to North-South railroad corridor, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is resolved to actively continue its effective cooperation with Eurasia to help maintain regional security and development, the Iranian president said.

Referring to significant role of Russia in dealing with the JCPOA, he said according to IAEA Tehran remained committed to its pledges and after the US unilateral withdrawal from the treaty, Moscow played significant role in consolidation and implementation of the JCPOA on its side.

Russian president, for his part, welcomed expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries and underlined the prospect of such cooperation is very promising.

Moscow supports Iran's permanent membership to Eurasia, President Putin said.

The US left the G5+1 one-sided, but Moscow continued talks with other parties to support the JCPOA, he added.

Cooperation between Iran and Russia will be continue to help stabilize the region and such cooperation help resolve current crisis in Syria, he said.

He also kept his fingers crossed for success of Iranian national football team in the world cup in Russia.

President Rouhani leading a delegation and at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart arrived China on Friday evening to attend and deliver a speech at Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

President Rouhani is in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Qingdao in east coast of China from June 9-10.

Founded in 2001, SCO is an organization with eight member-states and four observers, including Iran.

The organization aims at taking measures to counter terrorism and extremism and promote economic cooperation.
