Iran and China on Sunday afternoon signed four memoranda of understanding (MoU) with an aim of developing mutual ties.

The documents were signed by senior officials of the two countries in the presence of the presidents of Iran and China.

Department of Science and Technology at Iranian Presidential Office signed a joint research program with Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.

The two countries also signed MoU on cooperation on the fight against illegal production and smuggling of narcotic drugs.

Another memorandum of understanding was inked by Securities and Exchange Organization (SEO) of Iran and China Legal Commission on Securities on mutual cooperation and technical assistances.

Iranian Ministry of Economy and Financial Affairs and Chinese National Commission for Development and Reforms signed a document on joint cooperation within the framework of 'One Belt One Road Initiative'.

Eight leaders of member states and four leaders of countries with observer status as well as senior officials from international organizations are participating in in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit .

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani arrived in China for SCO summit upon an invitation by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Belarus , Mongolia and prime minister of India are participating in the summit.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh, Minister of Economy Masoud Karbasian, Vice-President for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian as well as Central Bank Governor Valiollah Seif are accompanying President Rouhani in this trip.
