Iran urges Europe to stand against US unilateralism

Politics - Iranian President urged Europe to stand against the US unilateralism following Washington's withdrawal from the international agreements, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached between Iran and the world powers in 2015.

Today, Europe would show its opposition against the US unilateralism with louder voice and would state its readiness to cooperate with Iran and other influential countries on the regional and international issues explicitly, President Hassan Rouhani told reporters on Monday prior to his departure to Switzerland capital, Bern, on Monday.

The President referred to Russia, China, France, Germany, the UK and the whole European countries' opposition against the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal, and said that these countries feel that saving the JCPOA is at the interest of the region and the world and condemned the Washington move.

President Rouhani said that he will also discuss Iran's constructive role in the region as well as the crimes committed against the Syrian and Yemeni people.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the President said that Iran attaches importance to its friendly relations with the EU and the European countries.

Cooperation documents in various fields of industry, trade, health, medics, new technologies, education and water management is expected to be signed during the trip, he added.

President Rouhani at the head of a political and economic delegation left here for Bern to hold talks with the top Swiss officials on bilateral and international issues.
