Islamabad prioritizing FTA with Iran: Pakistani PM

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said on Friday that his country is giving priority to accelerating the pace of work on a free trade agreement with Iran.

Writing on his official Twitter account, the Pakistani prime minister said that he had a “very constructive, and fruitful” meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi where they agreed to “double down on collective efforts to fully unpack the potential of bilateral ties”.

He noted that the joint inauguration of Mand-Pishin border market and Polan-Gabd transmission line will uplift the standard of living of the people by opening up new opportunities of socio-economic development.

“There is an immense untapped potential of border markets that we plan to unpack in due course of time. Mand-Pishin marketplace is one of six other border points.”

Sharif appreciated the efforts by all those who “ensured the completion of the transmission line project in record four months that was pending since 2009”.
