Iran's Raisi officially welcomed by Venezuela’s Maduro

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has been officially welcomed by his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro at the Miraflores Presidential Palace in Caracas at the start of a state visit to the South American country.

People from different walks of life attended the ceremony on Monday to welcome president Raisi and his accompanying delegation while waving the flags of Iran and Venezuela.

The two presidents introduced the members of their delegations after the national anthems of Iran and Venezuela were played in the ceremony. A group of Venezuelan children and teenagers also sang along as the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran was being played out.

After the ceremony, the two presidents sat for bilateral talks while their delegations also engaged in talks on issues of mutual interest.

Raisi arrived at Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas earlier on Monday at the formal invitation of his Venezuelan counterpart.

Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren and other top officials of the Latin American country.

The Iranian president is on a four-day Latin American tour which will also take him to Nicaragua and Cuba.
