Saudi clubs after signing Iran’s football prodigy

The Saudi football clubs Al Hilal and Al-Nassr are after signing Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi, Portuguese media have reported.

Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr are interested in signing Mehdi Taremi, the Iranian striker of Portuguese club FC Porto, and have proposed a 5-year contract worth 10 million euros, said the reports on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, earlier reports in the UK media have suggested that that major clubs in the country, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also competing to attract Taremi.

If Manchester United is looking for "a stopgap solution", Taremi can be one, said the Old Trafford Faithful in a report, adding, "The FC Porto forward spent the last four years in Portugal’s top flight, scoring goals for fun."

The website also wrote that to buy Taremi, Manchester United will "face competition from Bayern Munich, who are ready to spend around £13m ‘or more’ to bring in the prolific forward."

Taremi was nicknamed the Persian Gulf Boy after celebrating his 100th match in Porto’s jersey on August 20, 2022.
