Iran sees 8.8% growth in steel production in May 2023

World Steel Association has reported an 8.8% increase in Iran’s crude steel production in May 2023 compared with that of the preceding year.

From January to May 2023, Iran has produced 13 million metric tons of steel, which shows a 2.2 increase compared with the previous year, the Association announced on June 21.

Although the total steel production worldwide experienced a 5.1% decrease in May 2023, Iran registered growth in its production in the same period.  

According to the WSA report, China has been at the top of the Association list with production of 444.6 million metric tons of crude steel in the first five months of the year, which shows a 1.6% increase compared to the same perion last year.
